About the artist
Long Chen is a contemporary Chinese woodblock print artist best known for his fine carving, vivid color, and surrealist composition. As part of the Bei Da Huang School, Chen evokes his home in Northern China through contrasting colors and large formats. Born in Heilongjiang in 1971, he joined the Department of Graphic Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1993. Chen is the recipient of numerous awards, including Top prize in the Tenth Taiwan International Printmaking and Drawing Biannual Exhibition (2001) and the Silver Medal in the First International Small Size Print Exposition in Beijing (1997). He is a member of the Heilongjian Artists Association, Heilongjian Provincial Printmaker's Institute, and Chinese Artists' Association.
